If you read my article earlier this week you might be confused. My first and most important rule is to side with the less experienced coaching staff. John Harbaugh has been head coach since 2008 and won a Super Bowl, wouldn’t he be resting all the decent starters? Well there’s an exception to every rule and in this case it is John Harbaugh. 

Maybe there’s something in that psycho competitive Harbaugh DNA that he cannot and will not relent in any preseason game. It’s lead to one of the oddest and most impressive records in the NFL, 21 consecutive preseason wins. They haven’t lost in the preseason since 2016. 

I should give Harbaugh some credit, it’s not like he’s playing Lamar Jackson the whole game in an all-out effort to win. I believe he has just coached these players, whether backups or starters, into buying in on these games. Into staying focused and playing with 100% intensity. You can’t argue with the record. And it hasn’t had any impact in terms of major injuries or earlier burn-out as far as I can tell. 

The man is just a preseason legend and I’ll bet this streak as long as I can no matter what the line is. Hard as it may be to believe, even at over -200 odds, this is a value.
