The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off two blowout postseason victories at home. While the argument can be made that they had an easy path to the Super Bowl between the Giants and the 49ers, they did so in dominating fashion, so it’s tough to expect anything more.
Philadelphia’s front seven has been completely dominant all season and the Eagles have one of the best cornerback rooms in the league. They pose a tall task for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense, which is dealing with a number of injuries.
Given that it’s the Super Bowl and both teams have two weeks to rest, most of the Chiefs’ injured skill position players should be good to go, but the lingering injuries of the whole group are concerning for them against a defense as talented as Philadelphia’s.
While solid overall, the Chiefs defense has been relying heavily on seventh-round rookies and other young talent. While it’s worked to this point, the Eagles offense has been a juggernaut this season and has only been slowed down by much better defenses.
The Eagles also have lost just one game with Jalen Hurts as the starter all season, a sort of fluky game against the Commanders. The Eagles’ top-tier roster will be too much for the Chiefs to overcome, despite some late magic from Patrick Mahomes.
