Following the retirement of the greatest to ever play the position, the NFC South is once again up for grabs after being dominated by the Bucs the last three seasons. This division is pretty weak overall and it likely won’t take a ton of wins to host a playoff game in January.

Three teams made major quarterback changes (or are soon to do so). The biggest transaction was the Saints adding former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, signaling they still believe in their ability to win games now and not enter a rebuild.

The Buccaneers added Baker Mayfield to pair with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, giving him possibly his best chance to revive his status as a solid starting quarterback in this league.

The Panthers made headlines when they sent a king’s ransom to Chicago for the No. 1 overall pick, which is expected to be Ohio St. quarterback C.J. Stroud. It’s been far overdue for that franchise to make a bold move in the draft at the position, as they’ve been lost since Cam Newton declined with age.

The Falcons have yet to make a noteworthy move outside of shoring up their defense in free agency, but they could get in the fold to move up in the draft this season. Pick No. 3 (Cardinals) and Pick No. 5 (Seahawks) could be up for grabs for a team looking to move up for a new face of the franchise.

2023 NFC South Champion Prediction: Saints | +120 at DraftKings

Simply put, this division is really, really bad. The Saints will probably coast to this title with the other three teams being in a clear rebuild. Derek Carr and the Saints will probably be in the 7-9 win range, which is likely enough to win the division.

Carolina made some nice additions in free agency, but it’s incredibly difficult to back a rookie quarterback to win a division. The Panthers have a nice defensive core but lost Pro Bowl wideout D.J. Moore and are severely lacking in skill positions to help develop their future No. 1 overall pick.

The Falcons and Buccaneers are facing rebuilds with aging rosters that have been blown up. Barring a career resurrection from Baker Mayfield, the Saints should secure this bet by late December.
