Kansas is ready to start accepting your bets for the NFL season.

On Thursday, Gov. Laura Kelly announced that Kansas will begin allowing bets to be placed on Sept. 1, with sports betting officially opening on Sept. 8, according to a news release. Sports betting will be overseen by the Kansas Lottery.

“Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that keeps Kansans’ money in Kansas and drives business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants, and other entertainment venues,” Kelly said in a statement following the announcement.

She continued on to thank their partners for working to get this done before the beginning of the NFL season.

The NFL season officially kicks off on Sept. 8 with a showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. The Kansas City Chiefs begin their season on Sept. 11 in Arizona before facing the Los Angeles Chargers for their first home game on Sept. 15 in Arrowhead Stadium.

While the wait for legalized sports betting isn’t over for those located in Missouri, anyone willing to make a trip to Kansas will be able to take advantage of legal betting in the state following the launch.
