News broke this Tuesday afternoon that the Denver Broncos were officially sold to the Walmart heir Rob Walton and the Walton-Penner ownership group for a total of $4.65B.

That price made this the most money ever paid for a US sports team. The previous record was the New York Mets, who was sold to owner Steve Cohen for $2.4B in 2020.

The previous NFL team that had sold for the most money was the Panthers back in 2018, when former owner Jerry Richardson sold the franchise to David Tepper for $2.275B.

This Walton-Penner ownership group includes Rob Walton, his daughter Carrie Walton Penner and her husband Greg Penner.

While this sale had been pending for couple months now, it was just made official today.

Exciting things happening in Denver with his new ownership group, and of course with new quarterback Russell Wilson making his way to the mile high city via trade from the Seattle Seahawks as well.

The Broncos current odds to win the Super Bowl are +1700 at FanDuel Sportsbook for those so inclined.
