What a tournament it’s been so far! It’s the first time ever that we have a Final Four with none of the 12 No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 seeds.
Now that we’re entering the Final Four and 64 of the 68 teams in the field have been eliminated, let’s take a fresh look at a future to ride through the final weekend of the tournament.

School | Odds |
---|---|
Connecticut Huskies | -125 |
San Diego State Aztecs | +400 |
Miami Hurricanes | +450 |
Florida Atlantic Owls | +625 |
Nobody has given Miami the respect it deserves all season. I noticed this back in February when I gave you the Hurricanes as my longshot pick at +5000 odds in this article.
Do I think Miami will beat UConn on Saturday? Probably not — there’s a reason the Huskies are the favorites. Can the Hurricanes pull the upset? Absolutely, and the value to win the title at +450 is too good to pass up.
The analytics don’t love the Hurricanes, as they rank No. 22 in KenPom’s rankings, but it seems like they could be a team of destiny this year.

All tournament, people have been saying to just wait until the shots stop falling. Well, they have kept falling so far.
In the Elite Eight against Texas, the Hurricanes trailed by 12 with about 11 minutes to go before storming back to an 88-81 win.
Most impressively, Miami didn’t need an onslaught of threes. Despite attempting just eight and making two from beyond the arc, Miami shot 59% from the field and only missed four of 32 free throws.
Senior guard Jordan Miller had 27 points and forms a backcourt tandem with junior Isaiah Wong that is both experienced and extremely talented.
The Hurricanes will have to make more than two shots from beyond the arc to beat UConn, but if they do they will likely be favored in the championship against either Florida Atlantic or San Diego State.
Containing UConn star Adema Sonogo will be a challenge, but the Hurricanes have shown they can score from all five positions to try and keep pace.
It should be a very entertaining final weekend of college basketball, with four teams in Houston that weren’t expected to be there.
