Mavericks vs Warriors Game 5 Preview
After dropping game 4 on the road, the Warriors are looking for the “Gentleman’s Sweep” in game 5 at home tonight. The Mavs should feel good about getting a win in front of their home crowd. Dallas certainly has a ton to build off in this series, but game 5 will have a completely different vibe.
The Warriors will be energized and determined to close this out at home, so they won’t need to head to Dallas for a game 6.
Close out games can be tough to navigate. They can bring out the best or the worst in a team, especially with younger or role players. We know oddsmakers can have a recency bias. With the Mavs taking care of business in game 4, we can find some great value bets tonight. Let’s jump into some of the best bets I found for game 5!
We’re starting off here with a high return play. While the blowouts may be more of a mystery in the Eastern Finals, to me it’s clear the Warriors have a serious talent advantage over the Mavericks. Dallas is struggling to get consistent contributions from their role players to help Luka and Jalen Brunson. While some of those guys looked good in their home win, game 5 will be a different beast.
As much as Dallas fans can feel good about the Mavs future, they are not ready to march into the Chase Center and give the Warriors a run for their money in a close out game. I’m looking for the trend to continue and the Warriors to run the Mavs out of the gym in game 5. That’s why I’m selling a ton of points here to get as much Expected Value in return as possible.
If we had to nitpick one aspect of the Warriors this series, it would be their slow starts. They certainly look a bit off at the start of games, while waiting for Steph and Klay to heat up. In a close out game at home, I would expect the Dubs to finish strong and their talent to win out. But, the limited 1st half minutes for the Splashh Bros and potential game 5 jitters from their role players makes me love the value we’re getting on their 1st half team total.
Mavericks vs. Warriors Game 5 Player Props:
Dorian Finney-Smith Under 18.5 Points, Rebounds, Assists | +100 at BetRivers
DFS has had a very inconsistent playoffs. He can look unstoppable on offense, but then disappear the next game. His 24 point performance in game 4 severely inflated his props for game 5. I’m looking for him to come back down to earth in game 5, so I love the value here.
Wiggins will need to have a solid game if the Warriors want to close out in game 5. Steph and Klay have been in this situation a ton in their career. But, with Wiggins limited playoff experience, I’m looking for Steve Kerr to game plan a ton his way. The Mavs haven’t shown they can stop him when he’s on. And I’m expecting him to be on in a big way in game 5.
