The Mavericks came out with a great gameplan in game 2. Luka and Jalen Brunson were cooking, combining for 44 of the Mavericks 72 1st half points. Everything was going right for the Mavs, until the Warriors turned into the Warriors and completely dominated the 2nd half. The Warriors held the Mavs to just 13 points in the 3rd quarter. Then, exploded for 42 points themselves in the 4th.
Now, the Mavericks find themselves in a deep 2-0 hole, without many answers to the Warriors explosiveness. Dallas has to feel defeated after an incredibly disappointing 2nd half. As the series heads to Dallas, the Mavericks must figure out a way to sustain their offense. Let downs to the tune of 13 points per quarter will not cut it against a team with the fire power of the Warriors.
The Warriors offense has been on fire this series. However, the star of the series has been their smothering defense. At times, the Mavs have been unable to get anything going on offense. They look completely out of sync and intimidated by the Warriors defensive looks. I love the value of getting the points here on the Warriors. With clutch shooting, and the ability to clamp down on the Mavs best offensive weapons, tells me the Warriors will be keeping this close; even in enemy territory.
There’s no doubt that the Warriors defense can be competent enough to hold the Mavs to limited points. However, the Mavs defense has been a big let down especially in clutch time. In order to keep the game close, they’ll have to figure out how to slow down the Warriors when they get on a role. Coach Jason Kidd has hinted at throwing more, unique, looks at the Warriors in order to slow them down. I see the Warriors cooling off a bit at home, while still keeping their swarming defense. These are good recipes for the under, along with the value we’re getting on Under 219 total points.
Kevon Looney Under 18.5 Points, Rebounds, Assists | +114 at FanDuel
Kevon Looney has had a very inconsistent playoffs. He can dominate in short spurts, especially on the glass. However, he can disappear for long stretches of the game and can look lost in the Warriors small ball style of offense. The pace of these games can leave Looney behind, so I’m looking for him to revert to his mean. I love the + Money value on his Points, Rebounds and Assists.
