McBets: Happy Thursday to you all! We are almost to the weekend, thankfully.
Yesterday, we got a tremendous extra-inning win from the Rays. But instead of an MLB play tonight, we will have an NBA play.
For those that do not know, tonight is Game 1 of the NBA Finals, where the Golden State Warriors will host the Boston Celtics.
This is a must-watch game as we see Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown square off against Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
The Celtics are coming off a big Game 7 win over the Miami Heat.
The Celtics preach defense and are one of the best teams at it. In their 18 playoff games, they have held their opponent to an average of 101 points.
This year, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets were two of the top offenses, and the Celtics shut them down in their first two series.
Furthermore, the Celtics haven’t had a fully healthy team in the playoffs. Tonight, I expect Marcus Smart to be back at 100% and Robert Williams to give it a go.
Williams and Horford have been huge for the Celtics in the playoffs, and I think they will cause the Warriors some trouble tonight.
The Warriors are coming off a 4-1 series win against my Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors had a huge comeback win from down 20 points in Game 2, or that series could easily have gone to seven.
Golden State is an excellent shooting team and can score in a hurry.
These two teams played recently in March, in which the Celtics beat the Warriors 110-88. It was very impressive that the Celtics held the Warriors to 88. I believe they can replicate this performance tonight with their defense.
The Warriors have had a more extended break than the Celtics, but we saw how much that impacted the Tampa Bay Lightning last night.
Jason Tatum and his Celtics will come out hungry and wanting to prove the world wrong.
I would not be surprised to see the Celtics pull this one off outright, but I will gladly take the 4 points in case it comes down to the end.
Premier Capper: Well … here we are! Tonight, the NBA Finals kick into gear. We are set to tip off in San Francisco, where the Golden State Warriors will host the Boston Celtics for Game 1.
Golden State has been resting easy, eagerly waiting to see who their next opponent will be — the Miami Heat or the Boston Celtics.
Boston needed seven games to close the series and is getting 4 points on the road tonight.
This is the Finals matchup the league wanted, fans wanted and bettors wanted.
Hopefully this series lives up to the hype and doesn’t follow the path of blowout games we’ve seen this postseason thus far.
Tonight, I will be backing 1 unit on Warriors moneyline.
I do expect Boston to grab a win on the road, but I do not think we see that until Game 2. Adjustments will need to be made and that will be done after game one.
It’s all Dubs tonight in San Francisco.
