Celtics vs. Heat Game 7 Betting Preview

As the Eastern Conference Finals shift momentum with each road win, the Miami Heat delivered another blow by taking Game 6 in Boston. It is the 4th road win to occur in the series. Unlike the previous games, this was a tightly contested contest, having 8 lead changes and 7 ties.

Jimmy Butler had arguably the best game in his career with a monstrous 47 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. The game devolved into a high turnover, overly physical matchup that sets the stage for a battle in Game 7.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics go as far as their two superstar wings do. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 50 points but contributed to 11 of the team’s 17 turnovers. Tatum was a super-efficient 9/12 from the field but was completely taken out of the game in the fourth.

He was able to match up hunt and play in isolation for most of the game, mainly attacking Max Strus. In the final period, Miami started to trap and time where their help was with more purpose. Tatum would be held to just one shot attempt in the fourth with 4 crucial turnovers.

Brown continued to look unguardable as he did all series in the first half, putting up 18 points on 6/10 shooting before Miami tightened the screws at halftime. He would have only 2 points in the second half and go 0-3 from the field.

Brown had an opportunity to tie the game with just over 2 minutes left but missed both free throws. Miami turned up the physicality in the second half and it seemed to fluster both the wing stars. Boston will need better and more consistent performances out of both to take Game 7 on the road.

Al Horford and Marcus Smart had lackluster performances at home. They combined to go 2-15 on 3’s, and could never find an offensive flow. Miami has started to back off Smart and allow him to take up as many offensive possessions as he’d like.

He leads the Celtics in shot attempts for the evening. Horford had his quietest offensive game of the postseason, putting up 3 points on an abysmal 1-8 from the field, missing a few bunnies around the rim and became passive once the shots weren’t falling. Boston will need its two most important role guys to bounce back to take Game 7 on the raod.

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are one win away from advancing to their 2nd NBA Finals in 3 years. The whole reason a team fights all season for the one seed is for this moment. They have the opportunity to host Game 7 in FTX Arena.

Jimmy Butler understood the stakes and his role. In Game 5, Boston had started to sag off and make him beat them from the outside. He would do just that in Game 6. Butler was ultra-aggressive all night, punishing the switching scheme against him. He hit 4 of his 8 3’s and took 18 shots in the painted area, backing down defenders into his patented fade away.

He hunted Derrick White and Horford all game en route to his 47-point explosion. Miami will need one more heroic performance from their superstar to get to the NBA Finals.

Kyle Lowry finally had his bounce-back game. After not looking himself the last few nights, the chaos creator and pull-up threat returned. Lowry was flying in passing lanes, stepping in on multiple charges to the point of near injury, and became the shooting, facilitating guard they desperately needed.

His 18 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists along with 4/9 shooting from three kept the pace for the Heat along with Butler. Lowry hit perhaps the biggest shot of the night, with Miami reeling in the fourth, a turnaround three from the wing to tie it gave Miami the boost it needed to come out with the win.

The most important factor for Miami will be Bam Adebayo. The constant switching and swarming while keeping physical bigs like Horford and Robert Williams have taken him out of the offense, netting only 6 points on 6 shots in Game 6, with 0 free throw attempts.

His versatility in the screen and roll or pop game opens up the motion offense for Miami, or it dwells into isolation-heavy basketball. Jimmy Butler was astounding in Game 6 to carry the load, but the Heat will need their all-star center to deliver to get back to the Finals.

With Butler and Lowry finally returning to form, the bounce-back shooting game, and being home, I have the Miami Heat taking Game 7 and advancing to the NBA Finals.
