UFC 273 Expert Betting Picks April 9th, 2022

UFC 273 features the headline fight of Alexander Volkanovski vs. Chan Sung Jung (“The Korean Zombie”). This UFC Fight Night is taking place on 4/9 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Since this is a highly anticipated UFC Fight Night, many sportsbooks, such as BetMGM, have already started to post moneyline odds for these fights. Below, I’ll go through my best bets, picks and predictions for UFC 273.

There are a myriad of fights scheduled for UFC 273. This Fight Night is broken down into an “Early Preliminary Card,” a “Preliminary Card” and a “Main Card.” Both of my expert picks for UFC 273 are in the Preliminary Card.

Irene Aldana vs Aspen Ladd Pick

First, I have a UFC betting pick in the Irene Aldana vs Aspen Ladd fight. After sportsbooks opened odds on this fight, UFC betting lines started ripping towards Aspen Ladd. I was able to bet her at +175 odds on Caesars sportsbook, and I think that this bet has incredible value at plus money. My betslip for this UFC pick is below.

Here are the current odds for this UFC matchup. As seen, the best price on Ladd is still on Caesars sportsbook, but she is down to +155 moneyline odds. I still think that she is worth betting at +155.

Aspen Ladd is #4 in the Women’s Bantamweight Division, and she boasts a 9-2 record since entering the UFC. She has 6 wins by TKO, 1 win by submission, and 2 wins by decision. Thus, Ladd is a very versatile fighter – she can win WMMA fights in many ways.

Irene Aldana, on the other hand, is the #3 fighter in the Women’s Bantamweight Division. She has a 13-6 record in the UFC. Aldana is more experienced than Ladd, and she’s also a very versatile fighter. Aldana has 7 wins by TKO, 3 wins by submission and 3 wins by decision.

My UFC prediction is that Aldana vs Ladd should be a very close fight. Thus, being able to get +175 on Ladd is incredible value. That’s why my first betting pick for UFC 273 is Ladd moneyline at plus money.

Dricus Du Plessis vs Alexander Hernandez Pick

My second UFC bet for the fights on 4/9/22 is Alexander Hernandez moneyline at +154 odds. This bet is on FanDuel sportsbook. The current odds for this UFC fight are below. As seen, the OddsJam Perfect Line is set at +138 odds on Hernandez moneyline. FanDuel, on the other hand, is all the way up at +154 odds, which is incredible value.

Hernandez boasts a 13-5 record in the UFC. He has 6 wins by TKO, 2 wins by submission and 5 wins by decision. Dricus Du Plessis, on the other hand, has a 16-2 record in the UFC. Similar to Hernandez, Du Plessis can win fights in multiple ways. He has 7 wins by TKO and 9 wins by submission.

My UFC prediction is that Du Plessis will not be able to finish Hernandez in round 1 or round 2. Hernandez is very durable. In the third round, the advantage should shift to Hernandez, as Du Plessis does not have great stamina. For these reasons, I’m rolling with the UFC pick of Hernandez moneyline at +154 odds on FanDuel sportsbook.

Although we did not cover the Main Card of UFC 273, there will definitely be some great value as we get closer to the fights. I recommend using the OddsJam Positive EV sports betting software to hunt for value in UFC betting markets. There are currently five fights scheduled for the Main Card.

  1. Alexander Volkanovski vs. Chan Sung Jung (“The Korean Zombie”)
  2. Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan
  3. Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev
  4. Mackenzie Dern vs. Tecia Torres
  5. Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nassourdine Imavov
