Obviously, I’m in love with the First At Bat Market. It’s everything we could ask for in a market. Plus money, and quick action for people who can’t pay attention for longer than one at-bat. Take my money. The thing is, we can bet guys like Brenton Doyle to strike out for a price like +180 (probably). Now I like Brenton Doyle, but let’s be honest, the guy strikes out all the time. We’re talking 129 Ks in just 346 plate appearances this season. That’s basically all the time. We can’t let our love for him blind us to reality.

Today, our guy Brenton has a date with Merrill Kelly which could be a bad thing for Brenton. Kelly throws a four-seamer, slider and changeup, all of which give Brenton trouble. Always have ever since Little League. I’m not a big batter vs. pitcher guy, but Brenton has seen Kelly four times in his life. Three of those four meetings ended with Brenton walking back to the dugout wondering what the hell just happened. As soon as we see Brenton Doyle’s name in the lineup, we need to bet him to strikeout in his first at-bat. Feels right.
