What an interesting rookie year it has been for Hunter Greene. He has flashed incredible potential, as he has racked up 146 K’s in 113.2 innings and a respectable 1.25 WHIP. On the flip side, he has a 4.91 ERA and has allowed 24 homers. In what will be one of his last starts of the year, Hunter has a chance to go out on a great note.
What is there to say that I have not already said about these Pirates. They average 9.34 K per game this season, 2nd highest in the league. They have the 2nd highest K rate vs RHP for the season at 25.4% and that has jumped up to 26.3% over the last 30 days.
Nearly their entire lineup is a good target, just check out these K rates vs RHP this season:
I have touched on Hunter’s K, but would like to dig deeper. We have some very favorable splits today, on top of a terrific matchup. Hunter has 86 K in 60.1 away innings (33.7% K rate), and 92 K in 71.2 night innings. The Pirates also have lefty heavy lineups most days, and Hunter has crushed LHB with a 33.3% K rate this season. He is in the 87th percentile in K rate, 88th percentile in whiff rate, 89th percentile in K per inning, and 87th percentile in swinging strike percentage.
I love the value for Hunter here and think this line closes at 7.5 for worse odds than we are getting currently.
