Boston Red Sox (54-55) @ Kansas City Royals (43-65)

I will be going back to an old friend in Rafael Devers. He spent some time injured and has not been great since returning. I see today as a good time to turn it around.
Despite his mini-slump, Devers has arguably been the league’s most consistent total base threat. He has hit the over at a league-high 58%, and that jumps to 60% in road games.

While Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City is not the most hitter-friendly park, today’s 97-degree temps and 10 mph winds are far better conditions than we normally see.
Road games have been kind to Devers. He has a .305 average, .268 ISO, 33 extra-base hits and 126 total bases in 53 games. He is certainly no slouch in day games either where he has a .376 average, .216 ISO, 13 extra-base hits and 74 total bases in 31 games.
Now let’s talk about the matchup. Devers has crushed righties all season. He has hit .323, .308 ISO and 42 extra-base hits in 263 at-bats.
Brad Keller is the righty he will face today. Keller has been getting crushed lately, as he has a 6.35 ERA over his last four starts.
What draws me to this matchup most is Devers’ success against Keller’s arsenal. Against lefties, Keller throws a fastball 36.5%, slider 27.09%, change up 14.78%, sinker 21.67%.
Devers has terrific ISO and wOBA numbers vs all of the above:
Fastball: .502 wOBA/ .460 ISO
Slider: .443 xOBA/ .327 ISO
Changeup: .342 wOBA/ .240 ISO
Sinker: .412 wOBA/ .333 ISO
I love Devers to break out this afternoon against a weak RHP.
