Marlins vs. Phillies Betting Preview:

7:05 p.m. ET

The Phillies are one of the hotter teams in baseball and deserve a little more credit than they are getting. They’ve got a legit slugger in Kyle Schwarber, some great hitters for average and a great rotation of starters.

The Marlins on the other hand have struggled recently, losing eight of their last 10, and have traded away some of their better pieces.

Tonight there is some value on the Phillies moneyline for one reason, and that’s Sandy Alcantara. The presumptive favorite for the NL Cy Young is having a fantastic season, with a 1.88 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.

The problem is this will be his fourth start of the season against Philadelphia, and these hitters are finally starting to get used to him.

The result has been similar in each start, he’s gone roughly seven innings and allowed two runs. The Marlins have also lost 2 of those 3 efforts.

Once Alcantara is out, the bullpen just doesn’t have the juice to keep the momentum going. He also gets very little run support, call it the Jacob deGrom effect.

Noah Syndergaard is a downgrade on the other side but his good starts are very good. If he can stay out of trouble early I don’t see a path to victory for the Marlins.

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox Betting Preview:

7:10 p.m. ET

The Braves continue the series in Boston tonight with Kyle Wright taking the mound to start. Prior to running into the buzzsaw of the New York Mets, both Kyle Wright and the Braves had been on a great run.

Wright had gone six starts with three or fewer runs scored and the Braves had won four of five games. They appear to be back on track with a nine-run effort last night.

On the other hand, the Red Sox are starting to fall apart at the seams.

Chris Sale is out the rest of the season after a devastating cycling incident and the rest of the rotation has been spotty to say the least.

Nick Pivetta is the second option right now and is very hittable. A 4.51 ERA and 1.33 WHIP put him squarely in the bottom half of starters.

Ultimately, I trust the Braves lineup to hit well tonight and the Red Sox to struggle as they have been.
