Happy Yordan Alvarez vs a RHP day. In theory, I could just copy and paste this article several times a week for the rest of the season. The guy is just terrific, and there is plenty to like about his matchup today.
Yordan has developed into a superstar this season. For a big, power hitting lefty he only has a 18.3% K rate. He puts the ball in play often and when he does, he destroys the ball. He is in the 100th percentile in average exit velocity, 100th percentile in hard hit percentage, and 98th percentile in barrel percentage.
Right-handed pitchers must have nightmares about Yordan. The man is batting .346 with 33 extra base hits (22 home runs), and has a .420 ISO in 188 at bats. He has accumulated 144 total bases in those at bats.
Oddly enough, Yordan has been a little better on the road this season. Regardless, Yordan has been terrific at home as well. After his 3/3 effort last night he is batting .301 with 22 extra base hits in 133 at bats. His ISO is .375 in his home stadium. Night games have been a big factor in production as well. While he hits .259 during the day, that number jumps to .354 at night.

Finally, he has a good history vs Chris Flexen. In 12 at bats, he has 4 hits including 2 home runs. Yordan is very strong vs pretty much every pitch he will see out of Flexen’s hand:
Fastballs ranging between 90-92: .545 ISO
Change up: .301 ISO
Cutter: .480 ISO
I like Yordan to have a good night at the plate, and think there is a great chance he takes one deep tonight.
