KEEPTHEJUICE21: 2022 MLB Futures Picks

Here are some of KEEPTHEJUICE21’s favorite MLB Futures for the upcoming season, which starts up on Thursday April 7th, 2022.

MLB Team Win Total Pick: Blue Jays o92.5 Wins -110 at Caesars Sportsbook

The Blue Jays earned the best odds to win the AL East but it’s far from a sure thing. There could be 3 playoff teams in this division. But Toronto kept the core of the team from last year and should benefit from a few additional factors. Last season they won 91 games while playing 2/3 of their home games in Florida and Buffalo.

They’ll be able to play true home games the full season this year in Toronto, which will give them another unique advantage. The vaccine mandate in Canada means that opposing players who aren’t vaccinated won’t be able to play at Rogers Centre. This includes a few high profile AL East players and is enough to give an edge. 

AL West Winner: Astros -175 at Caesars Sportsbook

The AL West is the Astros to lose. The Mariners could be surprising this year, and definitely will improve but they won’t be in a position to win the division yet. 

The biggest competition should be the Angels but they aren’t on the level of the Astros. Houston has the veteran leadership between Bregman, Altuve, Kyle Tucker, and Yordan Alverez, and not to mention talent on top of that. They’ll also be getting Justin Verlander back. Of all the division favorites, this is the hardest for me to see going anywhere else but through Houston. 

MLB Player Prop Future Pick: Eugenio Suarez u34.5 HRs

Suarez had a great season last year but it will be difficult to replicate in Seattle. The park is not as hitter friendly as Cincinnati and he’ll have to adjust to pitchers he hasn’t seen before. His strikeout rate steadily increased last season and he had fewer reasons to hit for average than he will this year. He seems like a prime candidate for regression.
