We’re past the halfway point of the 2022 MLB season, as the 99-day lockout that got us started is a memory of the distant path. While the lockout was in-part over pay at the bottom of Major League Baseball (MLB), the pay at the top is the highest its ever been and only getting higher.

Today, let’s take a look at the highest paid MLB right fielders (RFs), and see how they stack up in 2022.

Who are the Highest Paid MLB Right Fielders in 2022?

Atop the MLB highest-paid RF list is Giancarlo Stanton’s $29 million salary this season that the Yankees picked up when they traded for the slugger in 2017 from Miami.

Jason Heyward is next up earning $24.5 million this season, followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, whose 2022 salary comes in at over $30 million. Signed in the summer of 2020, Betts’ deal is worth $365 million in total, locking the 29 year old up through the 2032 season.

The Padres’ Wil Myers is next on the list set to earn $22.5 million this season, which is the last on his deal that does include a club option for 2023. Moving down to the $20 million range, Phillies RF Nick Castellanos is earning $20 million.

Padres newly-acquired All-Star and Home Run Derby winner Juan Soto is next on the list earning $17.1 million.

The oldest player on the list at 33 years old is next in line with Starling Marte earning over $15 million on the season, signing a four year deal in November worth $78 million for likely the last big deal of his career.

Meanwhile, the youngest player by a margin of four years is 24-year-old Braves slugger Ronald Acuna Jr. Still on his contract extension from his rookie season, Acuna signed an eight year deal in 2019 for $100 million, which my guess will re-negotiated as he hits his prime in the next few seasons; if he’s not already there.

Miami Marlins RF Avisail Garcia is ninth on this list earning $12 million this season, as the right handed hitter signed a new deal in November worth $53 million over the next four seasons, and Randal Grichuk rounds out the top 10 making just over $10 million.
