Getting in on the action early can be a great way to take advantage of some betting markets and generate positive closing line value. Some of these best bets are found by early line shopping!

In this article below, we will give a preview of the MLB matchup between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays on July 29th. I think I have one of the top MLB betting picks for 07/29/2022!

Will the Rays Stay Hot at Home in Florida?

The Rays have become known recently as a savvy small market team that can build a championship contender despite having one of the lower budgets in the MLB. They have made it to a couple world series, but have yet to get that elusive ring.

In 2022, though, they are on the outside looking in as things currently stand. They are third in the AL East, as well as third in the Wild Card standings as well. Behind the Rays are the streaking Orioles, so the Rays will need to keep winning if they want to secure a playoff spot.

They currently sit at 53-46, but where they have had the most success is at home, where they are 31-18. They also have stud Jeffrey Springs on the mound as well, who is a south paw with a 2.50 ERA. There are a lot of factors that favor the Rays in this matchup, but the Guardians won’t go down easy.

The Guardians are only two games behind the Rays in the Wild Card Standings. In this specific matchup, they have former Cy Young and pitching triple crown winner Shane Bieber on the mound. Bieber isn’t quite as good as he was that Cy Young year back in 2020, but he is still a force.

Despite being on the road, there are reasons for optimism for the Guardians in Tampa Bay. The most apparent of which being the Guardians hold a clear advantage on the bats. In almost every batting statistic the Rays are a bottom third offense in the MLB.

While the Guardians admittedly perform better against right handed pitchers than they do lefties (Springs is a lefty), they still hold a clear advantage over the Rays on the bats.

So, I like the value of backing the underdog Guardians at + money here.
