Yesterday we targeted the Giants on a 5.5 line for a Twins pitcher, and guess what? We are gonna do it again. 

We are rocking with Sonny Gray today at a really good value. Sonny has had a solid season with strikeouts. He sits in the 62nd percentile in K rate at 24.4% and has 95 K in 95.2 innings. While none of that may jump off the page, I believe there is a significant edge today. At home, Sonny is an entirely different pitcher for K:

• Home: 66 K in 55.2 innings
• Away: 29 K in 40 innings
• Home K/9: 10.7 
• Away K9: 6.5
• Home K rate: 28.3%
• Away K rate: 18.6%

Sonny has also enjoyed a great month of August with 25 K in 21.2 innings, a 30.2% K rate, and a 2.08 ERA. 

When looking through Sonny’s game log, I noticed something. There may not be a pitcher in the league with a harder schedule as far as strikeouts are concerned. Of Sonny’s 19 starts, he has only faced 4 teams that rank inside the top 10 in strikeouts per game. The Giants rank 11th in the league, so this is actually one of his best matchups of the season. 

The Giants have been an elite team to target lately. 12 straight starting pitchers have gone over their K line vs these Giants. They strike out 9.10 times a game on the road and coming off a 13-K game last night. I am thrilled to get Sonny at +120 here.
