Blue Jays vs. Twins Betting Preview

8:10 p.m. ET

The Blue Jays visit the Twins tonight and Tyler Mahle will make his first appearance in a Twins uniform on the mound. There are a few statistical factors that make me think the odds favoring the Blue Jays should be flipped.

It starts with Mahle, who has a marked advantage against Berrios in ERA, XERA, WHIP and strikeouts. The gap only gets wider when accounting for home field.

Given this has never been his home field before, I’m not giving Mahle any consideration, but Berrios pitching away has an ERA above 7 and a 2-4 record.

When it comes to the bats, the Twins should have a slight advantage as well. While the Blue Jays rank highly in terms of runs scored and average, the Twins are by the advanced metrics one of the most underrated teams in the league.

Minnesota hits very well, and especially against right-handed pitching. With the advantage on both sides of the plate, I like the Twins to cover very confidently.

Angels vs. Mariners Betting Preview

10:10 p.m. ET

Is this going to be a blowout type of high-scoring game? Probably not. But seven runs is just too tempting. The Angels start a road trip tonight in Seattle and have not been great offensively, we know this.

But we don’t need them to be. The odds are rightfully and strongly in favor of the Mariners who just came out of a winning series against the Yankees. So if you believe the Mariners win the game, we only need 3 runs out of the Angels to push, and 4 to win. That’s something I can get behind.

The Angels aren’t the best offense in baseball but they have the talent and they go on hot streaks. Let’s not forget the seven home runs they hit last night.

Mariners starting pitcher Robbie Ray is giving up home runs left and right, with 21 on the season (3rd highest among starters), so if the Angels capture some of that magic again, the runs will pour in. Patrick Sandoval is a solid starter on the Angels side but the bullpen is very poor. I would expect this total line around 8 to 8.5, so 7 is a must take.
