2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship Picks, Predictions & Best Bets
What a week for Joohyung “Tom” Kim, the 20 year old was in a must win situation to punch a ticket to the FedExCup Playoffs and despite starting the tournament with a quadruple bogey, 8, he did so — clearing the field by 5 strokes.
He shot a final round 61 (-9), which featured a prolific front nine 27 (-8). This win is the first of Tom’s career on the PGA Tour, securing his tour card and a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs. He is the second youngest winner on tour since WWII, behind Jordan Spieth.
Sunday also marked the end of an incredible PGA tour regular season. This season produced 8 different players who won multiple times on tour, led by Scottie Scheffler — who won 4 tournaments in 6 weeks.
Scheffler also finished first in the FedExCup standings, taking home the lion’s share, $4,000,000 of the $20,000,000 payout split between the top 10 players in the standings after the regular season conclusion.
This week is the beginning of the best three consecutive weeks in golf, the FedExCup Playoffs. This year we start the playoffs with the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, the tour’s only stop in the Volunteer State.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship is the first of three tournaments in the FedExCup Playoffs, which features progressive cuts to the field after each tournament, starting at 125, down to 70, and ultimately 30 for the final tournament, the TOUR Championship.
The FedEx St. Jude Championship is a 72 hole, stroke play tournament, with a cut after 36 holes down to the top 65 players and ties — this is the only event of the playoffs which will have a cut after 36 holes.
There is a slight chance of rain on Thursday afternoon but otherwise weather should not be a major factor this week.
What Course Is The FedEx St. Jude Championship Held At?
The FedEx St. Jude Championship is held at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The course was designed and opened in 1988 by Ron Prichard, in consultation with Tour pros Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller.
It is a par 72, 7,244 yard course which features rolling fairways, bunkers and plenty of water; no course on tour has had more balls hit in the water since 2003.
Driving distance should take a backseat to approach and iron shots this week as it will be imperative to keeping the ball in play and out of the hazards.
