Cleveland Browns Decline RB Kareem Hunt Trade Request

Running back Kareem Hunt, looking to extend his contract, requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. However, insiders told us that the team has declined his request privately.

Hunt is currently at the end of his two-year $12 million deal and has missed team drills lately. He returned to the team on Sunday to request a trade.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, didn’t want to comment on Hunt’s trade request and told he didn’t want to get into anything regarding his players and the details of their conversations. He also didn’t want to provide any information whether Hunt would be fined for sitting out team drills.

Things aren’t going too well for the Browns lately, as they are still te be informed about Deshaun Watson’s suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy last week. Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson suspended Watson for six games on August 1, but the NFL appealed the ruling last Wednesday, looking for a tougher penalty.

Hunt played his three seasons for Cleveland extremely well, but missed nine games last season because of calf and ankle injuries. In total, he rushed 386 yards, netted 5 touchdowns, and finished third on the team. Only Nick Chubb and D’Ernest Johnson performed better with 1,259 yards and 534 yards respectively. In 2020 Hunt knocked in 11 touchdowns for the Browns of which 6 rushing and 5 receiving.

Hunt was one of the best rushing rookies with the Chiefs in 2017 with 1,327 yards, but in 2018 he was released by the team after a video leaked of him shoving and kicking a woman. The Browns signed him in 2019 but suspended him for the first eight games of the season for violating the personal conduct policy.
